Daniel W. Alt’s “The Chronological Gospel: King James Version With Commentary” takes a novel approach to the traditional biblical narrative, reimagining Jesus Christ’s tale by smoothly combining the four Gospels into a single, continuous narrative. This unique anthology guarantees readers a thorough and enriching understanding of Jesus’ life and teachings.
Daniel W. Alt painstakingly aligns the stories of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to create a coherent and chronological narrative. Alt’s story fills in gaps and clarifies events by building on Luke’s orderly account and complementing it with material from the other Gospels. This strategy allows readers to experience the Gospels as a fluid and cohesive narrative, which improves understanding and spiritual reflection.
“The Chronological Gospel” is marked by various novel elements. The passage is color-coded, with Jesus’ words highlighted in red, God the Father’s statements in green, commentary in purple, and Talmud infractions in brown. This color-coding scheme allows readers to readily distinguish and follow the various voices and themes in the text. Alt’s incisive commentary complements the scriptural text, offering historical context, theological insights, and practical application. These notes are intended to enrich readers’ knowledge and inspire additional research. Furthermore, the original author’s chapter and verse numbers are provided, allowing for cross-referencing with Strong’s Concordance, which is based on the King James Version. This feature encourages scholarly investigation and personal exploration.
Alt’s commentary and unusual presentation technique make “The Chronological Gospel” appealing to both experienced Bible readers and newbies. Alt encourages readers to approach the Gospel narrative without standard chapter and verse divides, allowing them to immerse themselves in the story as if reading a book.
Early readers and researchers appreciated “The Chronological Gospel” for its meticulous study, thoughtful structure, and unique viewpoint on well-known scriptures. This book is destined to be a significant resource for individual study, group debates, and academic courses.
About the Author
Daniel W. Alt was the second-oldest of ten siblings, and he was born into a Catholic family in 1946. During his brief stint in Vietnam, he served for four years as an air force sargeant. He was married in 1968 and blessed with five kids. When he started studying the Bible in 1974, he was swept up in the charismatic revival. Since then, he has worked hard to further his research in this area. Disagreements over dogma led to his 1986 departure from the Catholic Church. He followed in the early church’s footsteps by starting a Bible study that meets in people’s homes after earning an associate’s degree in 1994 and ordained in the fall of 2018 and the same year that he lost his wife. He is the pastor of that traveling Bible study group and also provides commentary on the Bible.
